Description
Summary:The article analyzes leisure practices as external manifestations of professionalclass identity. The degree of scientific work of the selected problems is determined. Formulates the relationship between class identity and class position. The article gives the concept of social practice and leisure practice. Describes different types of leisure practices. The authors consider mass tourism and alternative tourism (including voluntourism). Theories of the “civilization of leisure” by J. Dumazedier and the origins of the tradition of empirical study of the classes of W. Warner are considered. Leisure is defined as a set of activities that a person is engaged in their free choice for recreation and entertainment, enrichment of knowledge and development of creative abilities after dismissal from work and responsibilities in relation to family and society. Class identity is defined in the tradition of neo-Marxism, in particular through the occupation. As an empirical indicator of occupation, the ISCO-88 codifier has been selected. The variable “ISCO-9 categories” is the order scale in which professions pre-coded by the ISCO 88 classifier are grouped into 9 categories by the level of required qualifications and respective competencies. The connection between occupation and leisure practices was verified on the monitoring data of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in particular its results obtained in 2016. Conclusions are drawn regarding the manifestations of professional-class identity through leisure practices. Type of leisure and attitude to their free time become important indicators of belonging to the individual to a certain social class. Through leisure practice, a person identifies himself with a certain class, which makes the subjective class correlate with the objective.
