Summary: | Introduction: This article seeks to present the School Health Program (PSE) which is a public policy that was established in 2007 by Presidential Decree No. 6286, whose purpose and employ a new political model that was full and articulate Education and health policies, aimed at formation of citizenship and knowledge of human rights. As a research problem this article includes the following question: what are the main developments of the School Health Program, as it has gone through several periods of rise, difficulty and also stagnation. Methodology: This study followed a qualitative and bibliographic nature approach. To conduct the survey of the literature analyzed, consulted the principal available databases. General Objective: to present the main outcomes of the PSE and has the following objectives: to analyze the beneficial impacts and the difficulties encountered in the implementation of PSE; discuss intersectoral policy of the Ministries of Health and Education; discuss health in the education sector; and analyze the strategies of the Government Management for Public Policy current Health. Results and conclusion: through the PSE school can develop partnerships with the community in order to develop actions for the promotion, protection and prevention of health, which in fact, help the school address the multiple problems at school and community in a expanded concept of health, however this program faces several challenges that often compromise the quality of the actions developed by the program in schools.
