Description
Summary:Research objective: The aim of the study was to determine normative values and reference ranges for the median nerve by means of classical electrodiagnosis methods. Material and methods: The study involved 50 patients (50 hands), in whom, on the basis of a clinical test, no impairment in the functioning of the median nerve in the healthly limb was found. The unipolar electrode metod was used. In order to assess the excitability stimulation of the median nerve, currents of rectangular and triangular pulses, with pulse durations of 0.1-1,000 ms, were used. Results: Classical electrodiagnostic quantitative methods allowed both to determine normative values and reference ranges for rheobase, chronaxy, threshold value of accommodation, accommodation coefficient and accommodation quotient and to plot i/t curves. All of the obtained results were within the normal ranges for the standards reported in relevant scientific literature. Using the Student's t-test, no significant differences were found in the mean values of the tested parameters or normative values, either in the group or in the division according to gender. Conclusions: The normative values and reference ranges were determined for the median nerve.
