Description
Summary:As evidenced in the title, this article presents a critical analysis of several proposals developed by Amartya Sen. It makes two central critiques of Sens work; highlighting the absence of arguments that take into account relationships of power, as well as the lack of an emphasis on the relationship between the individual and society. At the same time, evidence will be presented that Sens perspective is not an alternative to the dominant economic discourse, neither in its analytic intent or its normative orientation. One can conclude that his proposals are presented, more appropriately, as a sophisticated theory of the principles that presently govern liberalism. Therefore, his formulations do not differ much from those that are currently being implemented in the majority of countries.
