description Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the elderly discrimination attitudes of individuals who applied to a family health center. Method: The population of this descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of individuals who applied to Family Health Center (ASM) in a province in the Black Sea Region (n=350). The study was completed with 320 people. The study data were collected using the ‘Descriptive Information Form and the Elderly Discrimination Attitude Scale’. The data were analyzed with SPSS 20.00 program and the significance level was accepted as p <0.05. Results: Of the individuals in study, 60.0% were female, 65.6% were married, and 30.9% were university graduated. The difference between the educational status and occupation of the individuals and the mean scores obtained from the scale were found to be significant (p<0.05). Between the level of education and the average of the subscale of the scale limiting the life of the elderly; There was a significant difference between the profession and limiting the life of the elderly, positive discrimination towards the elderly and positive discrimination towards the elderly subscales (p<0.05). Among the negative discrimination scale subscale for the elderly by family type; there was a significant correlation between the living status of the individuals with the elderly and the desire to live in the same house with the elderly and the negative discrimination subscale score for the elderly (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was found that the higher the education level and the higher the number of working individuals, the negative attitude towards the elderly increased. It was found that families with extended family type had positive attitudes in terms of positive discrimination subscale. As a suggestion, it is recommended to support researches with a wider universe on the subject to be conducted in cooperation with different disciplines and to carry out awareness raising activities in every sector against elderly discrimination.
