description During the last decades a certain philosophy and theology of youth ministry have developed with the Dutch Reformed church. This existing approach is still applied today but the question remain however, why this specific approach to youth ministry is maintained. The present theoretically based approach is somewhat isolated from the realities of life and has resulted in the discussion of ideas which have little effect on (religious) values, personality and behaviour. Youth ministry does not only present itself in the communication of true ideas about the Bible, but also exists in the exploration of ways to commit ourselves and our children to the Lord. Commitment to God manifests itself in inter alia our attendance of Sunday church services - an opportunity to experience the presence of God by means of the preaching of is Word. The question thus arises why our children are not always regarded as an integral part of this community which should glorify the Lord and partake of his blessings every Sunday.
