In 1708, the provincial reform of Peter I was initiated, during which the state was divided into 8 provinces. In 1719, the provincial reform was transformed, provinces were divided into provinces, and provinces into districts, as a result, a three-level system of administrative and territorial division was created. After some relative stability in the middle of the century, in the second half of the century, the provincial reform was continued by Catherine II, during which the number of provinces was increased from 23 to 50 and governorates consisting of several provinces were formed. In the provincial reform of Catherine II, at the end of the century, Paul I made his own adjustments, who eliminated the governorships and reduced the number to 41 provinces. The article examines the history of transformations in the XVIII century of the administrative-territorial units of the future Orel province - Livensky Uyezd and its administrative center of the city of Livny. Considerable attention is paid to the history of the formation and formation of the city of Lieven and its county as administrative-territorial units in the provincial system of the state and the reasons for their transformations are analyzed. |
