Description
Summary:It is truly believed that Obeid Zakani is a great satirist. The present paper is aimed at considering Zakani 's works with a critical approach based on the response of the reader. It is also intended to clarify why his works are still appealing to the modern reader. Since the reader's response is a significant point in the appreciation of any satirical text, the paper emphasizes the social and psychological elements, through which Zakani 's works achieve the status of what Todorov called "Fantastique Literature". In the process of the analysis, Bakhtin and Nietzsche 's ideas are also employed to prove the point that fantastic literature has four specific features by which it becomes representative, universal and permanent.
