description | Urbanisation is one of the most striking features of contemporary civilisation. Urbanisation does not always take the same form, nor does it progress at the same rate everywhere. In the urbanisation process that is taking place in Turkey, the great population increases of certain large cities are still important. However, many rural settlements also acquire city status by increases in their population. As an example to this, İnegöl is one the district of Bursa Province situated in the Southern Marmara Region of West Anatolia. İnegöl district is also a basin in respect of hydrological, geological and geomorphological characteristics. Because of this, İnegöl basin have a number of settlements are different types. The unique city of the research area is İnegöl. Research Area has also 6 small towns such as Alanyurt, Yeniceköy, Kurşunlu, Tahtaköprü, Cerrah and Oylat. Evidentley, in the urban settlements of İnegöl district, there are a lot of differences in urbanisation process each other. These settlements not only provides meaningful clues about the economical, social and hierarchical structure of the research area, but also reflects transformation of rural characteristics to urban. In addition, nowadays, the industrial activities in İnegöl city have developed rapidly compared to many cities in Turkey. Considering the urbanisation process, cultural, economical,and social structures, İnegöl shows an industry city characteristics with a population of over 100.000 in 2000 |
