Description
Summary:3D (three-dimensional) laser scanning is a new technology in the field of complex object recording. The paper explains the functioning of terrestrial 3D laser scanners and their differences according to the way they measure the distance between the scanner and the object. Basic elements of scanners are described, such as accuracy, form, scanning rate, resolution and beam spot size, range, target, field of view, transport, energy supply and software. Furthermore, the problem of surface reflectance is pointed out and some results and examples of 3D laser scanning are shown.
