Description
Summary:The article focuses on trajectories of Spanish ecclesiastics coming from American territories to Europe, in order to explore from the inside the frontiers of the Catholic Monarchy, resulting from the union of the Portuguese and Spanish kingdoms from 1580 to 1640. From America they went to Madrid and Rome, due to different reasons and following different itineraries, and showing by their mobility itself a political project, pleasing or not for the Crown. After Rome, center of these mobilities, they could go further to the limits of the empire, to France, Germany or the Netherlands : this is a concrete way to understand this huge territorial construction.
