description A total of 109 patients with initial manifestations of chronic cerebrovascularpathology (CCVP) and uncomplicated hypertension(degree 12) and 30 healthy individuals (control group) wereexamined. The patients underwent comprehensive clinical andlaboratory testing. Lipid peroxidation (LPO) was assessed usingchemiluminescence of LDLP induced by Fe2+ ions. Reduced antioxidantactivity was revealed in 94.2% of patients with CCVPassociated with hypertension as compared to healthy individuals;individual LPO components were enhanced. Dyscirculatoryencephalopathy in patients with hypertension was preceded bya period of early or initial manifestations of cerebrovascular disorderswith activation of free radical oxidation and depletion ofthe endogenous antioxidant system being comparable in terms oftheir severity. Enhancement of oxidation processes was observedin patients presenting with severe and frequent hypertensive urgencies,multiple microfocal cerebral lesions, dyslipoproteinemia,and increased red blood cell aggregation at the early stagesof chronic cerebrovascular pathology.
