In der Üblichen Formulierung der quasigeostrophischen Theorie wird eine Gleichung fÜr die mittlere zonale Strömung benutzt, die den Massenterm in der Bilanzgleichung fÜr den Drehimpuls vernachlÄssigt. Es wird eine Erweiterung dieser Gleichung fÜr den Fall einer barotropen Strömung Über Gebirge vorgeschlagen, bei der der Massenterm eingegliedert ist. Diese modifizierte Gleichung wird auf ein Problem der topographischen InstabilitÄt angewandt. Es zeigt sich, dass die Wachstumsraten deutlich zurÜckgehen, wenn der Massenterm einbezogen wird. |
