This epistemological realignment breaks new ground away from the classic
Chicago School. Associated with this “diversification of diversity”
(Vertovec, 2007:1025) is a fragmentation of the different social and ethnic
groups in the city. However, the concept of super-diversity camouflages a
separateness of these groups that is called <i>newguineaisation</i> in this paper. With that said,
this new urban reality claims for empirical investigations of the societal
implication of this phenomenon especially with regard to social cohesion in
contemporary cities.</p> |
