Description
Summary:Either a bridge or a door, a sea or a wall, the representations aim at grasping the Mediterranean under the sign of binarity. Never has a sea aroused so much interest as this Middle Sea. Oscillating between several representations that drain a multitude of concepts, the Mediterranean crystallizes the major oppositions of current societies. Brought on to the big screen, or being the object of the intellectual analysis of authors, the Mediterranean leads one to interrogation and invites to the reflection on life, on the relations between the carriers of the cultures of the two banks and on the future of humanity. This study proposes to analyze the filmic and literary staging of the Mediterranean as a space where binarity is exercised.
