description This study aims to investigate efficiency of a training program, based on individual playing activities, in improvement of imitation and responsiveness skills. A pre-experimental design in which one group was exposed to treatment and measured afterwards to see if there were any effects was used in this study. The study participants consisted of 8 children diagnose with autism spectrum disorder. Seven males and one female aged from 7-14 years were purposefully selected from two special education centers in the city of Amman. Study tools were imitation and responsiveness scale for autism spectrum children with adequate validity and reliability indicators. A training program for developing imitation skills was applied. The program consisted of individual play activities was implemented over 52 training sessions, each of 30- minute duration. Results indicated significant effect of the training program in improving the imitation skills of study participants. In the light of the study, the researchers emphasize the importance of inclusion of imitation and responsiveness skills as a prerequisite requirement for the educational and treatment programs for children with autism spectrum disorder.
