description Considering that university writing consists of several dimensions which go beyond the linguistic materiality of the academic texts, this article aims at signaling some of them from eight undergraduates’ perspectives who have reflected on their writing paths in the Language course in a public university. The analyzed data derive from a cut of a doctorate research corpus, which were not included in the thesis final version, and are formed from an academic activity of revisiting older assignments, previously elaborated in their first year, to evaluate them critically concerning the changes undergone in their writings along the course, since those initial moments. It was noticed that most of the conflicts identified and commented in the ‘talk around text’ (LILLIS; CURRY, 2010) were related to matters inherent to the academic-ideological sphere reflected on the academic genres produced, emphasizing therefore the importance of discussions to analyze practices of academic literacies which in them are conducted. The study has been based on the discursive perspective of Bakhtin Circle, especially that of Medviédev (2012 [1928]) when considering these undergraduates’ writings not only as textual writings, but also discursive presentations, drawing it close to the assumptions of the Academic Literacies field (LEA; STREET, 1998; 2014 [2006]).
