Summary: | In colonial Venezuela, subaltern mobilisations represented a constant challenge to the colonial administration. Indians, slaves, maroons and pardos had different strategies, ranging from participation in institutions to open rebellion. In the 1790s, new revolutionary politicisations also had a major impact, transforming popular demands. In this article we analyse in particular the Coro rebellion of 1795, which challenged the authorities. |
