| description | The main specifics of age determination of the red deer (Cervus elaphus), European roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) and wild boar (Sus scrofa) based on morphological and ethological characters during their field census in game husbandries of the Carpathian region are described. The age of even-toad ungulates in field conditions is recommended to be determined considering a set of characters, such as posture and condition, health status, moulting, attitude, social status in the herd, trophy value, etc. Most of these characters is the best to be analysed in daytime, especially when the animals are resting, and also when they go out to pastures, leave the pastures, during grazing, etc. The considered approaches allow identifying the age structure of populations. |
