description Photonics technology has the potential for applications in space environment which is helpful in studying and analyzing various parameters of space. This integration of space and photonics technology is called Astrophotonics. Various types of Specialty Optical Fibers (SOF) have been designed for specific applications. The SOFs have capacity to sense high temperature as well as a wide range of radiation. These fibers are enabled for multi-point and real-time monitoring of temperature as well as radiation parameters. We have proposed the implementation of such specialty optical fibers as sensors for space vehicles. Also, SOFs that can be utilized for other parameters sensing have been discussed in this paper.
