description The absorption performance and evolution of the organic dye disperse blue 1 (DB1) in dioxane at different concentrations was investigated. The nonlinear absorption coefficient has been measured through the open aperture Z-scan technique, whose values increased exponentially from 0.997×10-3 to 11.7×10-3 cm/W as the dye concentration increased from 3.7×10-5 to 74.6×10-5 M. Also, DB1 optical power limiting characteristics appeared at high laser light intensities, whereby very dilute solution of the order of ~10-4 M was sufficient to limit the transmitted ‎power of the incident laser light by ~90%.
