Description
Summary:Health information systems are an essential tool for decision-making in different contexts. However, Colombia has shortcomings in data quality and reporting. As a consequence, information is not reliable. It must be said that there are not recent studies exposing profiles of mental health. So, health information systems available records are the only source of information. Despite their limitations, these records allow to estimate the magnitude of such events. When consulting these records, it was found that diseases linked to mental health have a prevalence of approximately 9%. Besides, women are the most affected by them. For that reason, it is necessary to develop research regarding prevalence as well as reviewing public health policies, including intervention in mental health events as a priority.
