Description
Summary:In 2015, the attacks occurred a few months earlier cause the cancellation of the usual illuminations scheduled during the Festival of Lights in Lyon for several years. This article focuses on the ordinary media coverage of social networks at that time, on the one hand for the unusual nature of this cancellation, allowing the occurrence of an event within a ritualized time, on the other hand for its historical background. Thanks to a hybrid methodology between computer science and semiotics, we were able to analyze how these photographs allowed the public to develop their own narrative regarding this event. It turns out that not one, but three stories intertwine, in these photographs published during the event: the one describing a traditional event, the one intended for tourists and finally, the tribute to the victims of the attack.
