Summary: | Abstract The study aims to establish the differences between female and male students at the Central University of Ecuador in terms of the development of digital competencies in the variables potential to develop them and information management. The hypothesis was that female students of the Universidad Central del Ecuador had less development of digital competencies than male students in the variables potential for developing them and information management. It was concluded that in the first variable, female and male students showed similar potential to develop digital competencies; in the second variable, in all indicators, women had less mastery than men, so the hypothesis was verified.
