Description
Summary:The Provincial Museum Emilio Bacardí Moreau was the first in the country, founded on February 12, 1899 in Santiago de Cuba, as an expression of the intellectuals to exhibit the historical and artistic heritage of the region and the world. The initial collection was enriched by important civic contributions. Among its heritage assets there are pieces of different cultures, an important representation of objects belonging to the heroes of independence and an archive of great documentary value. Despite the heritage that is exhibited in the permanent collection and that is stored in the reservoir as well as the growing concern of experts to improve the conditions of exposure and storage of the museum, all conditions for proper cataloging and preservation of its assets are not created, being, perhaps, the collection of documents, the most vulnerable heritage.
