| description | This article considers the views of famous legal scholar Johann Caspar Bluntschli regarding the unification of the states of Europe and the entire world in the framework of a confederation of sovereign states. The author examines a number of works of Bluntschli and comes to the conclusion that his views have significantly influenced beliefs of the subsequent generations of political, public and scientific figures in many countries of the world and thus have substantially contributed to the formation and the development of idea of the European unity and to the establishment of the modern European Union. In this regard it is argued that the Bluntschli’s plan is indisputably a significant stage in the development of the theory of interstate integration both in Europe and in the entire world and that it is of great importance in the matter of the further development of international law, the promotion of close international cooperation and the maintenance of peace and security all over the world. |
