Summary:The continuing COVID-19 outbreak has urged enormous using up of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Individual usage of the facemask become most popular to prevent the spread of the virus. Wearing facemask becomes necessary and part of the various regulations an guidelines encouraged by the government across the country worldwide. The increase usage of the facemask creates threat to the environment that leads to the pathway of the pollution. This article is the first to estimate the daily usage of the facemask generation in India. Separate state-wise usage of the facemask were highlighted. The results clearly portraits the usage of facemask consumption increase year by year. Finally, the outlook and challenges on additional development and applications of the facemask were discussed.
