Description
Summary:Background. In this article we describe a modern family doctor as a comprehensive paediatrician, who preserves human health, and their importance in fight with tuberculosis. Drug-resistant tuberculosis has become an urgent matter, multidrug-resistant TB in particular. In Ukraine 23.4% of patients suffer from TB diagnosed for a first time and 58.6% from recurrent cases of the disease. Objective. The aim of our research is to present a family doctor as a comprehensive paediatrician and demonstrate their importance in fight with tuberculosis in modern times. Results. In recent years in Ternopil region the positive dynamics of epidemiological process, decrease in incidence and mortality from tuberculosis is evidenced. In 2014, the efficiency of treatment of patients who were diagnosed with bacterial pulmonary tuberculosis for a first time, was 87.6%. However, the number of patients, who died of TB within one year of observation over the last decade, increased from 15.6% to 22.2%, (p <0.05). This proves an untimely tuberculosis diagnosis at different levels of medical services, at primary one in particular. Mortality rate in patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis is 17.2%, 1/3 persons died up to one month. Conclusions. Family doctor provides first medical aid, eliminates foci of infectious diseases, promotes healthy lifestyle among population, and is responsible for their health as the highest personal and social value.
