Description
Summary:Within the setting of open market organizations, which in Brazil began to appear around the 1990s, efficiency has gained greater relevance. The objective of this paper is to study the efficiency of Brazilian airports through data envelopment analysis, using the Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) and Empresa Brasileira de Infraestrutura Aeroportuária (INFRAERO) databases from 2009, 2010, and 2011. The method was applied to study 16 Brazilian international airports with regards to financial variables. This approach showed that an airport’s size did not determine its efficiency. The use of resources to achieve production was the most relevant criterion for investigating the airport’s good performance and efficiency in the study presented herein.
