description Spindle cell lipoma (SCL) is a histomorphologically distinct benign adipocytic neoplasm that only rarely arises within the oral cavity and can be a challenge for diagnosis and clinical management. A clinical and pathologic presentation is put in context of current published experiences delineating the diagnostic differential and resultant management options. Our case highlights histologic variability of SCL, diagnostic utility of retinoblastoma (RB1) staining and an approach to biopsy and/or surgery for appropriate diagnosis and optimal outcome.
