description Currently, as part of the decision to enhance the procedural capacity of the lawyer in criminal cases to be tried by a jury, there is an urgent need to make effective use of available legal opportunities to defend the interests of his client, taking into account the specific features of proceedings in this category of criminal cases. The ability to apply tactical techniques tailored to the specifics of criminal proceedings in this category will increase the effectiveness of the lawyer’s advocacy activities, reduce the number of errors and violations of a legal and tactical nature committed by the lawyer in court. Purpose: to study the problems associated with the use of tactical techniques by the lawyer that enable him to effectively defend the interests of the defendant in criminal cases to be tried by a jury, thereby reducing errors and violations of a tactical and legal nature. Methods: general scientific (dialectical, systemic, logical, etc.) and specific scientific (formal-legal, comparative-legal, etc.). Results: the article reveals the errors and violations committed by the lawyer in criminal proceedings to be tried by a jury, proposes tactics and legal techniques that allow to increase the effectiveness of advocacy activities in this category of criminal c ases.
