description | The article focuses on the comparative study of ontological time and space having the systemic organization of the lexical semantic field in English and Ukrainian folktales. The investigation reveals the peculiarities of notions ‘time’ and ‘space’ verbalized by nouns in both languages. The field’s structural parts – its nucleus, central zone and periphery – have been defined and examined by means of the comparative analysis. Common and different features are reflected.
The aim of the given study is to reveal, compare and analyze the specificity of the language objectification of the ontological kind of time and space in English and Ukrainian folktales (hereinafter - tales), to single out the isomorphic characteristics and ethnic and cultural peculiarities of the vision of the phenomenon under investigation by the representatives of corresponding cultures. The achieving of this goal is realized by solving of the following main tasks:
- to justify the singling out of the ontological kind of time and space in English and Ukrainian tales;
- to organize and classify lexical units denoting ontological kind of time and space in English and Ukrainian tales;
- to construct LSF "Ontological time" and LSF "ontological space" with the singling out of a nucleus, central zone and periphery;
- to Compare LSF "Ontological time" and LSF "ontological space" on the material of English and Ukrainian tales.
The object of the research is a piece of a conceptual picture of the world, reflecting the view of English and Ukrainian languages-speakers of the ontological kind of folktale chronotope.
The specificity of ontological conceptualization of space in English and Ukrainian tales is manifested in his different relevant features. Despite the identical general organization as a whole, English and Ukrainian linguistic communities show the remotenessa to the understanding of the relevance of different types of geological space (for English speakers – a hollow, for Ukrainians – a plain), which is conditioned by different geological pculiarities of the territory on which the United Kingdom and Ukraine are situated . |
