description The article examines the increasing tensions on world’s gas markets, especially in Europe where gas makes up a considerable share of energy balance. The subject of analysis is the nature and reasons behind supply and demand imbalances on European gas market. The author assesses risk factors that have caused the unsatisfactory situation in energy field, including strong volatility, stock levels, imbalances in supply, and political unpredictability. The conducted analysis of factors impacting the energy crisis reveals that the situation is largely dependent on supranational policy of the EU which is stimulating a surge in energy demand.
