He authored hundreds of articles, essays, reviews and dozens of books published in more than dozen languages regarding the history and theory of puppet theatre and puppetry esthetic, including his three-volume Dzieje teatru lalek (‘A History of Puppet Theatre,’ PIW: Warszawa, 1970, 1976, 1984; revised 2nd edition in two volumes—Lublin, 2012), Aspects of Puppet Theatre. A collection of essays (Puppet Centre Trust: London, 1988), Ecrivains et marionnettes. Quatre siècles de la literature dramatique en Europe (Editions Institut Internationale de la Marionnette: Charleville-Mézières, 1991), the two-volume History of European Puppetry (The Edwin Mellen Press: Lewiston, NY, 1996 & 1998) and Metamorphoses. La marionette au XXe siècle (Institut Internationale de la Marionnette: Charleville-Mézières, 2000). |
