Description
Summary:This text is the introduction to the conference "Is there a French sociolinguistic exception? In the first part, the authors recall the principles, notions and categories that allow us to identify and order the words that surround any speaker (idiom and institution, parity and disparity, badumes, standards and norm). Secondly, they analyse, with the help of these notions, the sociolinguistic evolution of France from the French Revolution to the mid-1990s.
