Description
Summary:In this new edition of the Clinical and Epidemiological Round, the reader will be able to find four articles that we consider of special interest for current clinical practice. Abuzaid A., et al, performed a systematic review and meta-analysis comparing the outcomes of oxygen therapy vs. no-oxygen therapy in post-acute myocardial infarction settings. Freund Y., et al, present a non-inferiority cluster clinical trial in which they seek to prospectively validate the safety of a strategy based on clinical criteria to rule out pulmonary embolism. Also, using a retrospective cohort with propensity score matching study, Pasternak et al intend to investigate whether the use of oral fluoroquinolone is associated with an increased risk of aortic aneurysm or dissection. Finally, the SMART investigators group assess, through a pragmatic randomized clinical trial in critically ill patients, the impact of balanced crystalloids versus saline in the risk of developing major renal events.
