description This article aims relating and analyzing the historical and social aspects which circumscribe the universe of childhoods in the rural environment in Brazil, their plays, their relation with school and, most of all, to discuss some aspects that comprise the experience and participation of children in the core of a Social Movement such as the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra – MST (Landless Workers Movement). This study consists of a review of the narrative literature. We used three classical authors to ground theoretically the studies which deal with the Brazilian reality. Marx, who presents elements to wonder about the relational perspective of the social phenomena, and with his assertive which claims that the society constitutes a totality, the explanation of which is found in the comprehension of the material and objective conditions of existence. Vygotsky was utilized to think about the processes of subjectivity, production and the cultural experiencing by the childhood. And Bourdieu was utilized to wonder about the ideological function of the educational system, symbolic violence and symbolic capital.
