Description
Summary:This essay analyses the development of the relations between the Pontifical court and the Spanish crown between the end of the XVII century and the first half of the XVIII. Historiography points out how in this period there is a deep transformation in the juridical profile of the relations between Rome and Madrid. Indeed, from the XVII century, the instrument of concord becomes the means to overcome jurisdictional conflicts and to obtain an effective distribution of competences between the two authorities. Along the complex dialectical path which develops between these two institutions, the “Concordia Facchinetti” (1641) will represent an essential step towards the season of concords of the XVIII century.
