Summary: | In the spring of 1947, a meeting of religious publishers took place in Shanghai, which entrusted the cultural activities department of the Central Catholic Bureau, which had just been created, with the task of drawing up a list of the best and the best “adapted to the mentality of non-Christians” likely to be translated and published in Chinese. A first inventory was prepared by a college of missionaries from different orders, but things went little further: the current climate in China and the political changes that were coming overcame the project. It is this inventory that we will find here, accompanied by the necessary corrections and clarifications. |
