| description | The article reflects on Popular Education and Rural Education, focusing on the Amazon and the struggles of social movements in the current scenario of democratic regression in Brazil. We seek to understand what the struggles of social movements in the Amazon have contributed to flood the theoretical reflection and political action of Popular Education and Rural Education in Brazil and in the Amazon? We did a bibliographic and documentary study and field research with the Rural Education Movement in the ParaenseAmazon. The results show that the Bolsonaro government has put the Brazilian Amazon on the most intense route of dependent and neo-extractive capitalism, reproducing the historical pair modernization-colonization. However, the social movements of traditional and peasant peoples resist in defense of other civilizing references. In the case under study, there are actions to combat the closure of schools in the countryside and tensions regarding the forms of provision of secondary education in rural territories. |
