Summary: | In 1927 Kruchenykh publishes the book Four phonetic novels, composed from his works written in 1920-s: Robber Vanka-Kain and Sonka-Manicurist, Happening at hotel rooms, Jealou-ousy and Dunka-the-Chopper. In those novels written at times of LEF (Left Front of the Arts) Kruchenykh continues creative quest which Russian futurists had started before the October Revolution. It is very difficult to apply narrative analysis criteria to these novels. Kruchenykh presents absolutely personal and marginal vision of the novel aggregating novel and zaum. Here he uses futuristic concept of “the word as such” and “the letter as such” on the macro level of narration thus meaning changes in the whole idea of narration. Instead of unraveling the plot Kruchenykh states that the narration should draw together, contract, turn to some sort of a compressed novel. On the other hand, this attempt to write a novel using zaum language is attached to the idea of increasing communicativeness of the text. This is achieved by means of rethinking crime fiction, association with a sexy novel and references to the aesthetics of cinema, for which Kruchenykh gives his personal specific understanding. |
