The process brings about the formation of a dysprosium complex of formula {[(DyL<sub>2</sub>)<sub>2</sub>Na<sub>2</sub>(H<sub>2</sub>O)<sub>8</sub>][Et<sub>3</sub>NH]<sub>2</sub>[DyL<sub>2</sub>]<sub>2</sub>}·14H<sub>2</sub>O (<b>1</b>). Single X-ray characterization of the final product is reported.
