| description | The phenomenon of the October Revolution has been considered in the paper from the position of A.S. Akhiezer’s liberal historicism. The dependence of the Russian revolution on the previous experience of Russian history has been discussed. The Russian revolution is not a separate historical phenomenon. It is strictly defined and historically determined. The roots of the revolution go back to the Russian Middle Ages and the Mongol yoke, to the popular uprisings of the past centuries. Based on the theory of modified inversion cycles in historical development introduced by A.S. Akhiezer, the hidden contours of the structure of the historical past of the Russian state in the phenomenon of the Russian revolution have been investigated. It has been shown that the problem under study is related to a more general problem of the historical development of Russia as a traditional civilization. The phenomenon of Russian revolution is explored within the framework of a general cultural opposition between the tribal culture and the culture of civil society.
Special attention has been paid to the archaic character of Russian revolution: traditionalism, localism, logic of historical inversion, absence of political freedom or dialogue, collapse of the Soviet system. The ideas of A.S. Akhiezer, H. Arendt, and R. Pipes have been reinterpreted with regards to the modern realities of the Russian historical process. The revolution has been considered as a regular development of the previous cyclical historical process in Russia. |
