Description
Summary:The essay seeks to think about the consolidated opposition in modernity between the understanding of literature as fiction and the critique of the idea of literature as a document, commenting on two works by the Argentine author Belén López Peiró (Por qué volvías cada verano -2018- y Donde no hago pie - 2021-) considering the way in which, in both, it is possible to perceive a certain capture of debates present in the current public imagination, as well as their narrative exploration. An important hypothesis of this research proposal is that the tension created by the appropriation of documentary sources by many contemporary narratives may indicate an attempt to redefine the value and new frontiers for what we understand as literature in the present. Dealing with Belén López Peiró's narratives, it is intended to thematize the way in which the documentary turn (Klein, 2019; Contreras, 2018; Garramuño, 2019) can be the gateway to an interrogation about the peculiar ways in which fictions become entangled, and problematize the very idea of what we call reality in the present.
