Description
Summary:For decades family-owned companies have been a considerable economic force in most of the countries worldwide. Many companies of this type also take advantage of other sources of financing, especially bank credits. The main goal of the paper is to evaluate the quality of credit portfolios owned by family-run companies on the basis of financial data provided by selected cooperative banks available on June 30, 2014. The quality of a credit portfolio is measured by the share of bad debts in the balance due on the whole. The research results indicate that the quality of credit portfolios of family-owned companies in the analyzed population are slightly better than the quality of the entire commercial credit portfolio, still worse than in the case of credits given to other client groups or the average in a bank. The quality of credit portfolios of family-owned companies are also diversified in the group of the companies before and after succession.
