Summary:In the last decade, the EU’s political and economic positions on the international scene have deteriorated. This is due to the global financial crisis, migration crisis, Brexit, the arrival of D. Trump in power in the US and the strengthening of China’s economic influence. The latter two circumstances continue to play a very important role, forcing the leadership of the EU and its leading countries of Germany and France to engage more actively in drafting a new foreign policy doctrine. Today, the EU faces the task of renewing the European project, the solution of which includes seeking answers to domestic and internal economic problems, as well as developing new approaches in the EU’s foreign policy. At the same time, it is relations with China, which occupies serious positions in the world economy, become one of the most important challenges for the EU at the present stage
