Summary: | Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) was used from the viewpoint of human immunogenetics as an example of the most widely studied immunity-mediated disease. This was done in order to develop, approve and implement a new clinical approach to determine immunity-mediated susceptibility or resistance to autoimmune diseases. The approach is based on analysis of entire HLA-DRB1 genotypes (not separate HLA-DRB1 haplotypes) of the study participants. Therefore, more effective and personalised classification of T1DM risk groups was achieved by exclusion from significant contingents. |
