Description
Summary:The paper considers important issue of knowledge management and human reosurce management together from a strategic perspective. Theories of strategic management acknowledge the importance of internal activities, capabilities as a potential for competitive advantage. Drawing on the theoretical insights of the resource-based view paper shows both how HR systems may contribute to sustained competitive advantage by facilitating the development and utilization of organizational competencies and how HR systems may be the source of competitive vulnerability by contributing to the destruction of organizational competencies and/or preventing the utilization of those competencies. If the organization wishes to achieve competitive advantage on the basis of knowledge, a corresponding approach is needed when it comes to knowledge management. The process of knowledge and information dissemination must be carefully designed, encouraged, carried out, and supervised accordingly.
