Description
Summary:Felix Mendelssohn- Bartholdy’s four-hand piano works are not numerous, but they fi t perfectly into the general style as well as the composer’s piano writing. In duet literature he left two concert pieces, with a writing that creates the illusion of the orchestra. Andante with variations in B fl at major op. 83a (1841) reresents a variant of the similar piece Variationen op. 83 no. 11 for solo piano, written in 1841 but printed in 1850. Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s creations for four-hand piano inscribe in the piano literature pages of great brilliance, cultivating singable virtuosity and a diversified technique. They are a culmination of his piano and composition art. His style harmoniously blends Carl Maria von Weber’s breath with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s sigh and smile.
