description This article presents a synthesis of ten master’s essays made since 1999 at the university Jean Moulin Lyon III on wills in Lyon since the end of the XVIIIth century; according to diverse approaches: periodic soundings on the whole city, in parishes, at notaries offices. The model of the simplification of the testamentary discourse during the XVIIIe century is not questioned in its global architecture. Nevertheless Lyon seems to distinguish itself by a particular rate : implementation can be later and crumbling of the pious will (rather than the baroque) can be earlier, and an early and majority insistence on the simplicity of the burial, which does not mean a secularization of the approach of the death.
